Headquartered in Tokyo, Looop Denki was established in 2011 as a result of volunteer efforts to install solar power systems to help reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Initially, the company's main business was the development, operation, and sale of solar power generation systems, but in 2016, with the deregulation of electricity retailing, it began selling electricity to private households.
From the very beginning, Looop Denki's number of electricity contracts for household users steadily increased each month, and it exceeded 300,000 at the end of February 2021.
Looop Corporation supplies Looop Gas in the Tokyo Gas area since 2019. If you sign up for both services, you can save an additional 2% on your electricity bill.
Supply area and application method
Looop Denki currently sells electricity nationwide except for some remote islands. As long as you live in a supply area, you can sign up for a contract. However, If you live in an apartment or condominium where the entire building is receiving electricity in bulk, you might not be able to choose your own power company.
Looop Denki Features
Many electric power companies, including the major ones, set a "basic charge" in their electricity rate plans. This is a fixed monthly charge, regardless of whether or not you use electricity, or how much you use.
At Looop Denki, the basic charge is set at zero yen for all electricity rate plans for general households. Because the basic fee is charged by many electric power companies, you can save money on your electricity bill by simply switching to Looop Denki.
In particular, in ampere-based areas (such as the Kanto region), the basic charge is set to increase in proportion to the size of the amperage capacity. Therefore, if you live in an ampere-based area and have a large amperage, you can effectively reduce your electricity bill.
